Learning self defense has a natural positive effect on children. By learning self defense a child develops a dramatic increase in self esteem and confidence. These positive changes are clear and obvious to the people closest to the child.

 

For a child that has been bullied for a prolonged period of time, this development is crucial in a child's ageing proccess.

 

Children that have been bullied usually have low self-esteem and, needless to say, very little confidence (if any). Bullying can have devistating psychological eefects on a child. To watch children rediscover their self-worth and become confident is extremely rewarding. It is the driving force behind Bully Busters.

 

We are proud that we are able to help children develop empathy towards other children. When the children practice the lessons they take on roles as both the Victim and the Bully. They are able to see both points of view--what it is like to be the person causing another child distress, as well as what it is like to be the child being bullied. They learn that they have the power to "do what is right"!

 

Discipline development is an important part of the Bully Buster classes. 

 

Bully Buster classes are taught in such a manner that the children can enjoy themselves while they learn. Children have to be serious for most of their day; they thrive best in an environment that allows them to be "kids." If the class is fun, the children will want to learn.

 

Using the proper motivation we are able to teach children discipline while allowing them to enjoy the class. Children want their next belt more than anything else in a martial art class. We use that desire to accomplish many goals--discipline development is one of them.
